Sketches of Missing Women

Artist's Statement

Dorette began painting during her studies in Political Science at Sciences Po., Paris in 1991. Captivated by the form and style of the Parisian rooftops outside her window, she was moved to paint what she saw on canvas. Using black and white oils to depict a world marked by its own colour blindness, Dorette has gone on to explore other subjects on canvas, including the human body, a series of portraits on the missing women of Vancouver, as well as landscapes.
